This fabric is a soft furnishing velvet, widely used for curtains, drapes, cushions and other interior home projects. Also used on occasions when a clothing fabric is required and dressmaking velvet is not considered to be heavy enough - such as making an outdoor jacket.
We don't recommend it for upholstery work unless the item is for decorative purposes only because the pile is not sturdy enough to cope with everyday wear and tear required for seating or foot stools etc.
